Yinxian Rock Taiyin

#Wulong ·2022-08-20 23:32:13

In the central stone hall of Yinxian Rock, there are stone carvings and statues, whose styles are significantly different from those of the Ming Dynasty. After verification by local cultural relics workers, it is initially believed to be a statue of the "Taiyin Yuanjun" in the Taoist divine system. The design is rough and simple, featuring the characteristics of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, and the clothing clearly has the features of the northern ethnic minorities. Taiyin Yuanjun, also known as "Taiyin Huangjun". The ancients worshipped the moon, personified it and created a goddess, endowing her with a very high position. In the "Supreme Cave True Five-Star Secret Sutra", it is stated: "The essence of the Moon Palace and the moon's Yin, the image of the empress and her ministers." The Emperor of the Moon, the immortal officials, and the divine clerks all cultivated the way of flying to the moon. In Taoist rituals, there is a special ritual called the "Taiyin Holy Class", which is to celebrate the birthday of the "Taiyin Emperor". According to Taoist legend, during this ritual, all the gods in the moon come to celebrate, such as the Star God of the Moon Mansion, the Moon Mansion Taiyin, the Holy Moon of the Heavenly Palace, and the Holy Emperor of the Heavenly Palace, etc. In fact, in ancient culture, legends and stories about the sun and the moon, as well as their various applications, were very extensive and widespread, and can be said to be an important cultural phenomenon. The simultaneous appearance of the Sun Emperor and the Yin Yuanjun at the Yinxian Rock on Wudang Mountain holds certain research value in terms of their historical background, cultural connotations and other aspects.
