The original intention of taking the precepts is the aspiration for the path. In the future, it will be neither existent nor non-existent, and all phenomena will be complete. Self-restraint without intention becomes true precepts. Once enlightened, without thinking or striving, it should be consistently adhered to. If you are greedy for wealth and honor and love splendor, don't come to study the Tao. If one adheres to poverty and contentment with simplicity, one can naturally become a monk. A dashing and talented man, when asked about his heart, finds it empty. The ugly feathered scholar, looking at his belly, is so vast and imposing. When one achieves success in both literature and military affairs, and passes the imperial examination, wealth and honor are in vain. When a man marries and a woman matches up, they pretend to be promiscuous in the bridal chamber. Those who diligently cultivate their minds and nature, often engage in Zen meditation, and are determined to follow the path of enlightenment; Wearing fine silk all the time and reading little, one is a commoner without talent. The six rituals were not yet complete, and suddenly the wedding candles were lit in the bridal chamber. How strange! It's quite interesting that one doesn't read the Five Classics but occasionally achieves success in the imperial examination.
