Yue Xuanqing, styled Yun Gu, was from Fuping, Xi 'an (now Fuping County, Shaanxi Province). Because of Yuan Tongxuan, he was also known as Qiu Yuanqing. Born in the year of the Western MAO of the Yuan Dynasty (1327 AD). One theory holds that he was from Xianning, Shaanxi Province. According to the Ming Dynasty's "Great Mountain Taihe Mountain Annals", Qiu Xuanqing became a monk at a young age and studied under Huang Dezhen. In the early years of the Hongwu reign, he came to Wudang to study under Zhang Sanfeng. According to the "Brief History of Taoism in Wudang", Qiu Xuanqing, along with his disciple Pu Shanyuan, traveled from Hanzhong to Sichuan in the early Ming Dynasty and sought a place to settle in Shangshan, Jinchuan, but failed to obtain it. In the fourth year of the Hongwu reign (1371 AD), he came to visit Wudang from Junzhou in Xiangyang and became a disciple of Sanfeng. When he first paid homage to Sanfeng, he was on a three-day tour without returning. Qiu Xuanqing knelt before Sanfeng's physical body for three days without getting up. Zhang Sanfeng, moved by his sincerity, took him as his disciple. At that time, Zhang Sanfeng led his disciples to establish the Wudang Incense and Incense Temple, and Qiu Xuanqing worked diligently. When the Taoist temple was just established, Qiu Xuanqing was immediately recommended as the abbot of the Five Dragons Palace. Qiu Xuanqing was a magnanimous person and had been in charge of the sect for as long as ten years. At that time, many court officials were visiting Wudang. Seeing his extraordinary talent and talent, he recommended him to the imperial court and was immediately appointed as a censor and given two palace maids. Qiu Xuanqing firmly declined. The following year, he was transferred to the position of Taichang Temple Director, assisting in the management of Taoism throughout the country. From then on, every year when the imperial court held a grand ceremony to worship heaven and earth, Qiu Xuanqing would be invited to the court to inquire about the year. Every time Qiu Xuanqing made a prophecy, it would come true later on. Therefore, Zhu Yuanzhang held him in even greater respect. Qiu Xuanqing was particularly proficient in the study of the Yellow Court Classic and the Tao Te Ching throughout his life. In his spare time from incense and religious affairs, he would sit in meditation and forget about them. One evening, Qiu Xuanqing said to his disciples, "Tomorrow is my return date. I will leave the mundane world and go back." The next day, after taking a bath and changing clothes, he passed away with his eyes closed. According to the records, in the 26th year of the Hongwu reign (1393 AD), the imperial court sent Zhang Zhixing, the vice Minister of the Ministry of Rites, to be buried in the Black Tiger Gorge of the Five Dragons Palace. This event should have taken place several months after his death. From this, it can be known that Qiu Xuanqing passed away at the age of sixty-seven. Among Qiu Xuanqing's outstanding disciples were Pu Shanyuan, Ma Shanning and others.
