The Drunken Eight Immortal Swords of Wudang are said to have originated from the Wudang Taoist Sect in ancient times. The structure of the Wudang Eight Immortals Sword routine, its spirit, form, charm and the application of swordsmanship are all unique. The conception of this swordsmanship is based on the legendary "Eight Immortals". With their different natural characteristics and postures, combined with the features of martial arts, it incorporates swordsmanship into their forms and conceals martial skills in their postures. It integrates the "strike, thrust, cut, point, 掤, wipe, cloud, pick..." of swordsmanship. The various usages are vividly manifested in the different postures of the "Eight Immortals", closely integrating swordsmanship with the spirit and form. In swordsmanship, the body is intoxicated but the steps are not, the steps are intoxicated but the mind is not, and the mind is intoxicated but the spirit is not. The general characteristics can be summarized as follows: the movements are simple and natural, the form and spirit are both elegant, the force is both hard and soft, the posture is like a dragon playing with a pearl, the application is versatile, and it has distinct traditional features. Judging from its origin, it should have originated after the Tang and Song Dynasties.
In addition, this swordsmanship has two important features: First, the sword fingers of the left hand can be alternately used with the palm, making the movements more novel and elegant. Secondly, this set of swordsmanship can be practiced in pairs with two spears. When performed, it is like a single phoenix playing with two dragons, which is a rare traditional pair of "swords entering two spears". Because of this latter form, this swordsmanship is also called "Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl".
This routine was practiced by You Xiaolong, a disciple of Wudang, and guided and explained by Daoist Master You Xuande, the head of the Wudang Sect. This routine comes in a double-disc set (the quality website is fully responsible for it).
