There is a time to get up and lie down.

In the "Romance of The Three Kingdoms", there is such a description: When Wei and Shu were at war, Zhuge Liang sent envoys to the Wei camp. Sima Yi did not ask about military affairs but only about their diet and daily life, and said, "Zhuge Liang has little food and is troubled by worries. How could he last long?" Not long after, Zhuge Liang died at Wuzhangyuan. "He died before achieving victory in his campaign, leaving the hero with tears streaming down his face." This also indicates that irregular daily routines can lead to premature aging and shortened lifespan. Ge Hong of Taoism put it well in his "Baopuzi: Extreme Words" : "Losing the right time for sleep and rest is a cause of injury." Zhang Yian, a renowned physician of the Qing Dynasty, said, "Maintaining a regular daily routine can nourish one's spirit and vitality. Avoiding excessive overwork can also nourish one's essence." When the spirit fades and the form becomes solitary, a person will die. It can nourish the spirit and energy, so it can coexist with the form and live out its natural life to the fullest. It indicates that "maintaining a regular daily routine" is an important rule for nourishing the spirit. To maintain a regular schedule for getting up and going to bed in daily life, it is necessary to develop the habit of going to bed early and getting up early and having a regular lifestyle. No matter what the reason for "staying up late" is, it goes against the body's rhythm, deprives the brain of necessary rest, and the human body will not be in the best condition. The efficiency of study and work will surely be greatly affected. After a night's rest, the morning is the time when people's minds are the clearest. For anyone, sleeping in is a bad habit. As the saying goes, "Early risers tend to live longer," and there is some truth to it. Going outdoors in the early morning to breathe fresh air, take a walk, practice Tai Chi and other light exercises is of great benefit to the body. Taoist health preservation theory holds that human beings are closely related to nature. Therefore, only when the movement and stillness of the human body correspond to the qi of the four seasons can it be beneficial to health. The "Suwen: The Great Treatise on Regulating the Spirit through the Four Qi" has established a corresponding daily routine based on the seasonal changes, stating that in spring, one should "go to bed late and get up early, and walk widely in the courtyard", that is, in spring, one should go to bed late and get up early, go out for a walk freely, and respond to the rising qi. In summer, one should "go to bed late and get up early, and never be tired of the day", that is, in summer, one should go to bed late and get up early, be more active and less angry, in order to respond to the energy of long-term nourishment. In autumn, it is advisable to "go to bed early and get up early, rising with the rooster", that is, one should go to bed early and get up early in autumn, keep a quiet state of mind, and respond to the gathering of energy. In winter, one should "go to bed early and get up late, and wait for the sunlight", that is, in winter, one should go to bed early and get up late, keep a calm mind, avoid the cold and seek warmth, and reduce physical activity to respond to the latent energy. The ancient arrangement of getting up and lying down in accordance with the four seasons was put forward based on the viewpoint of the unity of human and nature and has certain practical value. Sun Simiao's saying, "Those who are good at maintaining their health follow the four seasons when they go to bed and get up, and have a very harmonious routine when they go to bed and live," conveys exactly this idea.
