Mental health preservation, under the guidance of the holistic concept of "harmony between man and nature", protects and enhances people's mental health through methods such as nourishing the mind and adjusting life, achieving a high degree of unity between form and spirit, and improving the level of health. Modern medical research has found that among all the factors that are detrimental to the human body, the one that can most easily lead to death is negative emotions. (1) Methods for Regulating the Mind and Maintaining Health 1. Calming the Mind Calming the mind refers to maintaining a state of detachment and tranquility in one's spirit and emotions. Because of the purity of the spirit and the absence of distractions, one can achieve the goal of having the true qi within and the mind at peace. The method of calming the mind and nourishing the spirit (1) : Have few selfish desires. "Less selfishness" means reducing selfish thoughts and distractions. Frugality means reducing the craving for fame, fortune and material possessions. The Inner Classic points out: "Therefore, the mind is at ease with few desires, the heart is at peace without fear, the body is tired without weariness, the qi follows smoothly, each follows their own desires, and all achieve what they wish for..." So one can live to be a hundred years old every year without losing one's vigor. Reducing selfishness and desires, starting from the actual situation, and restraining excessive expectations for personal desires and fame and fortune can alleviate unnecessary mental burdens, making people feel at ease and in a good mood, thereby promoting physical and mental health. (2) Cultivate the mind and calm thoughts. Nourishing the heart means maintaining the spirit of the mind. To concentrate one's thoughts means to focus one's mind, to be single-minded, to eliminate distractions and drive away troubles. The Medical Compendium states: "When the heart is nourished, the spirit becomes calm; when the spirit is calm, the qi gathers; when the qi gathers, the spirit is complete. If the mind is constantly disturbed and agitated, and does not remain calm, it is easy to age." Only when one's spirit is serene, composed and gentle, free from distractions and fully concentrated, can one achieve tranquility and harmony, an open mind, a clear and peaceful spirit, and optimism and joy. This is not only beneficial for study and work, but also helps to maintain overall coordination, a regular life, and is conducive to health and longevity. 2. "Thinking harms the spleen; anger overcomes thinking." "Sorrow prevails over worry in the lungs." "Fear harms the kidneys; thinking overcomes fear." This is a unique method of "overcoming emotions with emotions" established based on the principle of "saving the opposite with the opposite", which recognizes the dialectical relationship of mutual influence between mental factors and physical internal organs, emotions, and physiological and pathological aspects. For instance, one can make them laugh, or provoke them to anger, or make them cry, or even provoke them to fear, etc. One should guide them according to the situation, release pent-up emotions, and let their emotions run wild.
