Hong Tao has a relative who has a weak spleen and stomach, poor digestive and absorptive functions, a sallow complexion, a decreasing weight and looks listless all day long. I introduced him to the Shaolin Post-meal Arhat Lying Practice. He was eager to cure his illness and practiced it earnestly. After about 20 days, he began to see results. His appetite increased and he felt more energetic. Seeing the results, he practiced even more seriously. Two months later, I went to visit him. I saw that his complexion was rosy, his speech was forceful and his weight had increased. He was a completely different person from before. This skill is very simple and easy to learn. A brief introduction is provided below. After the meal, lie on the bed at an Angle or on the sofa, making your upper body form an Angle of 30 to 45 degrees with the ground. Loosen your belt, cross your legs, touch your tongue against the upper palate, breathe naturally, and place your palms on the dantian of your abdomen. Imagine that there are water vortices rotating inside your abdomen. Then, use your right palm to rotate clockwise about 10 centimeters above your belly with your navel as the center for 180 times. Then, use the left palm to rotate in a counterclockwise direction 180 times as per the law. The movement of the internal qi within the abdomen driven by the palm is commanded by the mind and induced by the palm's response. One should neither exert too much force nor completely no force with the palm, but rather have a slight hidden force. The combination of force and mind will will activate and move the internal qi. When the true qi in the dantian is abundant, it will flow down along the meridians to the perineum. At this point, the perineum will experience sensations such as pulsation, heat, coldness, and numbness, as well as a sense of sexual desire. At this time, one should restrain it and eliminate distractions. This Shaolin Post-meal Arhat Lying Exercise was included in the "Shaolin Guangcheng Qigong" by Li Sentang, the 33rd lay disciple of the Shaolin Temple, in 1986. Almost all exercises are prohibited from being practiced within half an hour after a meal. However, this exercise should be practiced immediately after a meal. It can enhance the internal energy by taking advantage of the grain energy, so it can quickly cultivate the internal energy and open the Ren and Du meridians in a relatively short period of time, making the small circulation function. By guiding the flow of qi, once the qi of the spleen and stomach starts to circulate, it will drive the qi of the liver, lungs, kidneys and other internal organs to circulate simultaneously, thereby mobilizing the potential fitness, disease prevention and treatment capabilities of the five internal organs. Therefore, in addition to preventing and treating chronic diseases of the digestive system, it also has encouraging effects on tracheitis, asthma, irregular menstruation in women, impotence and premature ejaculation in men, and frequent and urgent urination due to kidney deficiency. A very simple movement can harmonize all five internal organs and bring peace to all six viscera, which conforms to the principle of "the greatest truth is the simplest". Therefore, Master Dexiang, the abbot of the Shaolin Temple on Mount Song, praised this practice as "adding luster to Shaolin". I often practice this exercise instead of taking a nap at noon. After practicing it, I feel refreshed and my mind is sharp, which is of great help to my work and study in the afternoon. In the past, I often caught colds. But since I started practicing this exercise, I have never fallen ill. I am full of energy and walk briskly, with the spirit of traveling a hundred miles without getting tired. Those who are interested will know after giving it a try.
